Possible influences of Eastern spiritual technologies on the Christian contemplative tradition

Based on the modern expressions that we tried practicing, Eastern influences are evident. But we have no clue on the original contemplative tradition. Information is mostly coming from literature describing the contemplative techniques there were being practiced during that era. But if they were indeed originally brought in by the Desert Fathers, then we could extrapolate the mystical training they might had that were predominant in those regions during that era.
